I’m actually heading to watch this match at the ground so I thought it might be a good one to do a prediction for! Brighton are currently quite a tough team to call. Form is average with 2 wins from their last 6 matches. They managed a draw away against big rivals Crystal Palace, then beat Brentford and Nottingham Forest. However, this was followed by a 3-4 loss to Villa, a disappointing 1-1 draw with West Ham and an adventurous but ultimately forlorn 2-0 reverse by Liverpool at the weekend. They are out of the EFL Cup and have a tough draw away at Old Trafford in the FA Cup, so they will likely look to the league for a chance to repeat their recent European adventures. They are currently 10th and will need to start winning home games if they are to do this. The fans are starting to get a little fed up with things so it will be interesting to see the mood at Falmer this Saturday. Sunderland fans on the other hand could not be happier currently. The team are flying and occupy 7th spot in the league with a real chance of Europe if they continue current form. They won the Tyne-Wear derby against Newcastle 1-0 at the weekend and this was a bit of a boost after a battling 1-1 draw with Liverpool and a weak 3-0 loss against the blue half of Manchester in the 2 games previously. Away form has been a bit patchy to be honest and Brighton have plenty of quality on a good day. This game is likely to be relatively tight, (add to that I haven’t managed to see Brighton win a game live since 2019…apart from taking Spurs apart this time last year!) and I think a draw looks a good option here.
