Budućnost continue their pursuit of the top of Group B in the EuroCup. After an impressive run of five consecutive victories, they suffered their third loss in the previous round and currently sit in fourth place with a 6–3 record. They were outplayed by the French side Bourg, who celebrated a convincing 88–73 win. It was one of those games in which almost nothing worked for the team from Podgorica — their two-point shooting was a modest 35%, they missed nine free throws, and committed 12 turnovers. An experienced and quality team like Bourg knew how to punish every defensive lapse.

On the other side, the London Lions are part of a group of three teams currently sharing a 4–5 record, and there is no doubt they will remain in the hunt for a place in the round of 16 until the end of the regular season. In the previous round, they recorded their second road win of the season, a very convincing 74–61 victory over Lietkabelis in Lithuania. The London team also had some shooting issues, but they dominated with athleticism and energy, which secured a comfortable win against a tough opponent.

These two teams have already met in the first round of the EuroCup, when Budućnost claimed a dominant 86–59 victory in London. I do not expect the upcoming matchup to be as one-sided — primarily because the Lions have significantly raised their level of play since then. However, the difference in overall quality still leans toward the Montenegrin side. Budućnost have the ambition to reach the EuroCup final stages, and they possess the quality, experience, and depth for major achievements. In exactly these types of games, they must demonstrate that superiority against a physically strong but ultimately weaker opponent. The advantage lies with the home team.
