The Charles Schwab Cup Championship is the last event of the season for US-based PGA Tour Champions. These are whittled down to the top 36 players who compete in the finals, which are held towards the end of each year. The Championship is played over 72 holes across four days, from Thursday 13th November to Sunday 16th November 2025.

Who are the Charles Schwab Cup Championship players to watch out for?

While there are 36 players competing in Phoenix, mathematically, only five have a realistic chance of winning the title and with it, the trophy. Let’s take a look at those five players, worth watching this Championship.

Steven Alker

Official Senior World Golf Ranking: 1

Schwab Cup Wins: 2

Nationality: New Zealand 🇳🇿

Steven Alker currently holds the number 1 spot in the Senior World Golf Rankings. The 54-year-old has had a solid four years since he joined the senior PGA circuit, winning the Senior PGA Championship in 2022 and finishing in the top 10 in four out of the five senior major championships this year, most notably securing second place in the Senior Players Championship. Therefore, it would be remiss of us not to include him in our Charles Schwab Cup Championship prediction.

Miguel Angel Jiminez

Official Senior World Golf Ranking: 8

Schwab Cup Wins: 4

Nationality: Spain 🇪🇸

Spaniard Miguel Angel Jiminez has had a strong senior PGA tour this year, winning the 2025 Senior Players Championship and finishing third in the 2025 U.S. Senior Open. While he’s currently number 8 in the Official Senior World Golf Rankings, he shouldn’t be ignored when making our Charles Schwab Cup Championship prediction.

Stewart Cink

Official Senior World Golf Ranking: 3

Schwab Cup Wins: 2

Nationality: USA 🇺🇸

While Stewart Cink hasn’t won any senior major championships thus far this year, he did win the 2025 Insperity Invitational and the 2025 Ally Challenge, both at the first extra hole, so he can perform under pressure. American Cink is currently third in the Official Senior World Golf Rankings, so he is worthy of mention here.

Ernie Els

Official Senior World Golf Ranking: 4

Schwab Cup Wins: 1

Nationality: South Africa 🇿🇦

South African Ernie Els has had mixed success at tournaments so far this year, but he did notably finish runner up in the 2025 Ally Challenge and finished fifth in the Senior British Open Championship in July.

Thomas Bjorn

Official Senior World Golf Ranking: 2

Schwab Cup Wins: 2

Nationality: Denmark 🇩🇰

Thomas Bjorn is ranked number two in the Official Senior World Golf Rankings. He won both the American Family Insurance Championship and the Stifel Charity Classic earlier this year. As the most successful Danish player ever to play golf, we had to include him in our Charles Schwab Cup Championship prediction ponderings.
