Premier League: Chelsea vs Brentford 17/01/2026

Chelsea went all the way to winning the Club World Cup, but that came at the cost of their summer rest. Up to a point they coped very well with this season heavy schedule, but lately their performance has dropped.
With many injury issues and matches in the Premier League, Champions League and domestic cups, this dip was to be expected. Midweek they lost 3-2 at home in the first League Cup semifinal against Arsenal and now have only three wins in their last thirteen matches across all competitions. Two of those wins came in cup games against lower division teams. In the Premier League they are now five games without a win.
Brentford might be the most successful football project of our era and so far their season has exceeded all expectations. They started as one of the top four favorites for relegation and currently sit in 5th place in the standings, seriously pushing for a European spot.
Their away form (3-0-7) is an issue, but recently they have improved there as well. They have won their three most recent away matches (one in the Cup) and resemble last season, when they were poor away early on but later recorded a 7-2-1 run.
Chelsea have more quality in their squad, but they are not in good shape. The gap in the odds clearly underrates the visitors, who are also higher in the table. The +0.75 has value for a rested Brentford side that have won three of the last four league matches played at Chelsea ground.
