Birmingham vs Portsmouth was a regular Premier League encounter a few seasons ago but both clubs now find themselves back in the Championship after a few years struggling in the lower tiers. Neither side is coming into this with much momentum. In fact, both sides have 1 win, 2 draws and 3 defeats from their last 6 league matches. That has left the home side in 15th and Pompey down in 18th in the league making survival very much the main aim for both sides rather than a return to the lofty heights of Premier League football. If you are looking for goal scorers Jay Stansfield has been the main man for Birmingham this season up front and is probably their best hope for a goal. Portsmouth’s goals have been mixed about, realistically, you could probably pick any of their midfield or forward line to score as no one really stands out as a major goal threat. They have managed to score more than one goal just once in their opening 12 games. To be fair however they have not really conceded many, making them one of the most boring teams to watch in the CHampionship if I’m honest!
I am expecting a tight scrappy affair in this match and I can not really pick a clear winner between these two sides. For that reason I am concentrating on the corner kicks market here. Looking at their recent meetings I have noticed an under 10.5 corners bet would have come in more times than not. Neither side seems to be winning too many corners when they play each other or in other matches. Both styles lend to a midfield tactical battle and this should mean an under 10.5 corners bet will be a success.
