Who are the British Seniors Open players to watch out for?
This year’s event features some legends of the game. We have World Champions in the mix, along with many Ranking event winners in years gone by. Here are our top five players to watch out for, those who we’ve especially considered for our British Seniors Open prediction.
 Jimmy White
- World Ranking: 121
- Overall Ranking Titles: 10
An absolute icon of snooker, Jimmy White has won 10 major ranking titles to date. While the World Championship has eluded him, White has dominated the Seniors events, winning three and finishing runner up twice in the last six Finals. Amongst his many major and minor ranking titles, White is four-times World Seniors Champion, one-time UK Seniors Championship, one-time Seniors Irish Masters and one-time Seniors Irish Masters.
Quite the career, and for our British Seniors Open prediction, we think if he can get past 1997’s World Champion Ken Doherty in his opening fixture, White stands a great chance of winning the tournament outright.
 Ken Doherty
- World Ranking: 100
- Overall Ranking Titles: 6
1997’s World Champion Ken Doherty has six ranking event wins in his illustrious career. As we’ve seen above, Doherty opens with a tough fixture against Jimmy White, which is a repeat of the World Seniors Championship Final in 2020, where White came out on top. This game is the highlight of the Quarter Final stage, if Doherty can win, there’s few who would bet against him going all the way. For this reason, we’ve thought about Doherty’s chances in-depth for our British Seniors Open prediction.
 Stuart Binghamf
- World Ranking: 20
- Overall Ranking Titles: 6
The highest ranked player in this year’s tournament and the number 2 seed, Stuart Bingham debuts with an opening match against Joe Perry. Perry himself has had a great career, reaching a career high 8th place in the World Rankings in 2016. However, the 2015 World Champion Bingham is arguably the most consistent player in this year’s tournament and we fancy him highly in our British Seniors Open prediction.
 Alfie Burden
- World Ranking: N/A
- Overall Ranking Titles: 0
It might seem strange to put a snooker player who’s retired from the professional tour in our Top Players to Watch section. After all, he was never in the Top 32 in snooker’s World Rankings and has never won any ranking titles. However, Alfie Burden shouldn’t be underestimated. Burden heads into this tournament as the Top Seed after winning the World Seniors Championship back in May. His form means he’s come into our thoughts for our British Seniors Open prediction.
 Matthew Stevens
- World Ranking: 49
- Overall Ranking Titles: 1
Matthew Stevens is the second player, alongside Stuart Bingham, to feature in this year’s tournament despite also being in the Top 64. Another player who has enjoyed a fantastic career, Stevens may only have picked up one ranking title but he has won a huge amount of non-ranking events. The ex-World Number 4 has won the Masters and the UK Championship, narrowly missing out on a World Championship twice, beaten in the Finals of 2000 and 2005.
For our British Seniors Open prediction, we’ve analysed the Welsh Dragon’s chances of success in the tournament.

Prediction for the the British Seniors Open
We’re really looking forward to the British Seniors Open! There’s some great fixtures in the first round, featuring some legends of the game. Picking a winner for our British Seniors Open prediction has been tough, but we think Stuart Bingham has the best chance of success. Bingham is still on the main tour, facing strong competition all season long. The ex-World Champion has been consistently good, and still features in the World’s Top 20. We believe Bingham will have enough to reach the Final and ultimately lift the British Seniors title.
