Betting on Shots on Target

Another Champions League match with a huge favorite on one side — and Bayern certainly fits that description against Brugge. Still, the Belgians have shown in recent seasons that they can be a tough nut to crack even for stronger opponents. They started this Champions League campaign with one win and one loss. After a convincing victory over Monaco, they fell 2–1 away to Atalanta in Bergamo, despite leading at halftime.

Bayern, on the other hand, had no issues in their first two matches — winning 3–1 against Chelsea and 5–1 against Pafos. In that clash with the Cypriots, they could easily have scored ten goals. Here, the line for shots on target is set quite high. Brugge are not such an inferior side that they would allow that much pressure on goal, and if Bayern were to register nine shots on target, that would likely translate to five or six goals conceded. I expect the Germans to be a bit less accurate in this one. In their last Bundesliga match against Dortmund, they had seven shots on target, while against Frankfurt they had only three — though all three ended up in the back of the net.
