Los Angeles Galaxy will finish next week what has been the worst season in their history. If there’s one goal left, it’s to avoid ending up last in the Western Conference — or at least not to be the team with the fewest points overall in this year’s MLS. They have this match and one more to go.

Their opponent now is Dallas, a team fighting hard for a playoff spot. The Texans, with one game in hand, are three points away from the top seven and one point ahead of 10th place. The top seven teams qualify directly for the playoffs, positions 8–9 go to the play-in, and 10th place goes on vacation.

Both teams have key absences today, mainly due to international duty. In my view, the Galaxy’s missing players are more important than Dallas’s.

Just a week ago, these two sides met again, with Dallas winning 2–1.

Not finishing last is a moral incentive. Reaching the playoffs is a real incentive — and that’s the one I’m backing.

I believe the odds are wrong, so I’m taking Dallas +0.25
