France Ligue 1: Strasbourg vs Marseille 26/09/2025

Strasbourg is one of the most interesting football projects of our time. Despite many summer changes (losing key players but investing around €100m in youngsters), the team looks strong again this year and has made an impressive start to the season. The joint ownership with Chelsea brings in valuable loanees and allows the club to invest in top talents.
With an average squad age of just 21.7 years and with Régis Le Bris continuing his good work from last season, they have opened Ligue 1 with four wins in the first five matches. Their only defeat came away to Monaco, where they came back from 2–0 down, only to concede the 3–2 in stoppage time.
Marseille probably has a higher ceiling but is currently in a rebuilding phase and still unable to stabilize performances. In their six official games so far, they have three defeats and three wins, alternating. De Zerbi is still testing players and formations but hasn’t yet given the team a clear identity. That said, the momentum is very positive — after a strong second half away to Real Madrid (they were absent in the first), they followed up with a 1–0 home win over PSG.
Away games, however, are not their strength (losing all three so far), and considering that their clear favoritism is heavily influenced by Monday’s win over PSG, I’ll oppose them here.
