Premier League: Sunderland vs Aston Villa 21/09/2025

Betting on the Winner
Sunderland, after returning to the elite, is trying to prove that they belong in the Premier League. Their main goal is survival, and so far they have shown that they have the quality to achieve it. In the first four rounds, they managed to collect seven points, with victories against West Ham and Brentford. Last week in London, against Crystal Palace, they earned a point (1–1), even though they were under heavy pressure from the hosts throughout the match. This shows that the team has character and can handle the demands of top-level football.
On the other hand, Aston Villa is in a completely opposite situation. Unai Emery’s side has only two points so far and still hasn’t scored a goal in the league, which is a worrying statistic for a team that played excellent football last season both in the Premier League and in Europe. Despite the poor start, the quality and individual potential of players such as Ollie Watkins and Morgan Rogers cannot be questioned. However, the pressure on Emery is mounting, as Aston Villa looks sluggish and lacking ideas in the final third.
Sunderland is in good form and will certainly want to take advantage of the visitors’ current crisis, but this is a match where Aston Villa must respond. If their attacking lines wake up, the visitors could leave the Stadium of Light with all three points and finally put an end to their negative streak.
