Champions League Qual: Lincoln Red Imps – Vikingur 15/07/2025

Second leg of the Champions League first qualifying round. In the first match, Lincoln secured a 3–2 win.
Despite lacking match fitness, the near-permanent champions of Gibraltar showed their superiority in the Faroe Islands and took the upper hand in the tie. They were leading 3–1 by the 38th minute, conceded a goal in first-half stoppage time to make it 3–2, but managed to shut the game down in the second half, facing minimal threats.
Vikingur, the Faroese champions, are in full match rhythm, but appear significantly weaker compared to last season. After 16 rounds in their domestic league, they sit 5th in the standings, a massive 22 points behind leaders KÍ Klaksvík.
These are two low-budget teams trying to make an impression in Europe through the summer qualifiers. However, Lincoln has the edge—they have a relatively recent Europa League group stage appearance and looked on a higher level in the first leg. Playing at home, in conditions that will likely challenge Vikingur (sun and 85% humidity), Lincoln are rightly favored to get a second win and advance to the next round.
