World Wrestling Entertainment (WWE) is a form of wrestling that is officially classed as entertainment rather than a sport. By this it means that the results are usually (although not always) pre-determined. This is not a controversial thing for us to say, in 1989 the then owner Vince McMahon publicly acknowledged this in order to avoid taxes from the Athletic Commission. Regardless of the scripted nature of the events there is still a number of things that can be wagered on, including the actual results.

In this article we are going to take a deep dive and look into everything there is to know about WWE betting. We will briefly go through the WWE story to date, look at the types of bets that you can place, which tournaments you can bet on, and how to factor in that some results are already known or simply easy to predict. We will even look at the best strategies you can use to hopefully profit from it.

The history of WWE

History of Sport, Allbets.tv

The WWE has evolved over the decades and has incorporated many other companies and changed name several times. Its origins can be traced all the way back to the early 1950s when it was founded on January 7, 1953 as the Capitol Wrestling Corporation (CWC). It rose to fame in the 1990s under the World Wrestling Federation (WWF) brand before settling on World Wrestling Entertainment (WWE) which it has been since 2011

WWE is distributed to more than 150 countries, and hosts at least 12 pay-per-view events a year including its flagship events "WrestleMania", “Survivor Series”, “Summer Slam” and the “Royal Rumble”. Betting on the results has only been possible in the past fifteen years or so, and began as a novelty bet with very low limits and poor odds. Due to the scripted nature of the matches the bookmakers still view it as a novelty bet but there is a lot more bet options and competitive odds than the early days.

How we Evaluate and Rank WWE Betting Sites

When we are reviewing and ranking WWE betting sites we have a lot of things to consider. We do our best to be objective and fairly appraise the site's listing both their Pros and their Cons. The aim is to find the best sites but remember there is no one universal best, everyone has a different set of preferences and what is best for you may well not be best for me, and vice versa. Some of the things that we consider are how many wrestling events there are available as well as how many things can you bet on for each match. We also look at things like the odds and whether the bookmaker has any promotions and bonuses that can be used with WWE wagers.

In no particular order, the full list of things that we look at when making an assessment of a WWE betting site are:

  • How many WWE matches are available
  • What betting markets are there
  • Odds Quality
  • Is there a Welcome Bonus compatible with WWE betting
  • Are there any offers for existing users to use on the sport
  • How many payment methods does the bookmaker accept and how quickly do they pay
  • Is there a mobile App
  • Do they offer live streaming
  • Is customer support 24/7 and are they actually helpful

There were not a huge amount of bet options per match beyond simply who will win but the odds were considerably better than most competitors.

WWE Bonuses and Promotions

Bonuses and Promotions for Sports betting, Allbets.tv

Designed to attract new bettors and keep existing ones betting, it is incredibly rare to find an online bookmaker who does not offer a bonus of some kind. During our research there we no specific WWE bonuses, but we did find a large amount of offers and promotions which are compatible with WWE bets.

What are the best WWE Welcome Offers?

There are many different types of Welcome Offer, and there are Pros and Cons to each type. It is not possible to say which is the best mainly because the terms and conditions will be different for each, and this is what ultimately decides the value of a bonus.

The types of bonuses that you will likely come across are:

  • Welcome Deposit Bonus -  These bonuses exist to reward someone for taking the time to register and open a new account and also to encourage the first deposit to be quite large. It is not unusual to see deposit bonuses for hundreds of Euros. The terms and conditions will vary from bookmaker to bookmaker but the bonus credits will either be added up front, but you can not withdraw until it has been wagered, or it is a locked amount that is released to you after you have wagered the required amount.
  • Profit Boost - As the name suggests this will boost your profits, either on your first bet or over the first few days of having the account. Read the terms and conditions carefully and make sure that your bets settle within the relevant period. Also, if you are in profit consider putting a halt to your bets until out of the boost period, because if your next bets lose it will also lose you the bonus.
  • Free Bets - As the name suggests, this offer means that you will be given a bet to use which does not cost you anything, and if it wins then you get to keep the winnings. Usually the Free bets are awarded after you have deposited and placed a bet yourself, but the specifics will vary from one betting site to another.
  • Money Back - This offer is sometimes described as a “risk free” offer but be careful to check the exact terms and conditions because that is rarely true. What usually happens is that if your first bet, or bets, lose then you have those stakes refunded. However they are often refunded as Free bets or as cash that now has to be wagered again. It is usually a good offer but very rarely risk free.

What are the best WWE existing user bonuses?

  • Free bets - Whilst unlikely to be specifically for WWE bets there is a good chance that a bookmaker will offer their existing users Free bets from time to time. When they do you will likely be able to both qualify for the offer by wagering on a WWE bout and similarly use the Free bets that you have been given to bet on a WWE market.
  • Acca Boosts - Acca boosts are a very common site and exist to encourage increasingly larger bets to be placed. The exact ratio of bets in the Acca and the % boost will vary from betting site to betting site but it will be something like a 5% boost for 3 selections up to 100% for around 20 selections.
  • Loyalty Club rewards - Some betting sites offer their existing customers Free bet bonuses week in and week out in the form of rewards clubs. Usually what happens is that every account which wagers a certain amount in a week or a month, is then given Free bets in their account to use as they wish.

Are there any WWE betting Apps?

Womens WWE betting

Women have always been a part of professional wrestling but the roles they generally play have evolved over time. In the 1990s, WWE (then known as the World Wrestling Federation) usually referred to their female wrestlers as a “Diva” but at WrestleMania 32 in 2016, WWE announced their discontinuation of the "Diva" branding for its female performers in order to promote them more as athletes in the same way the male wrestlers are.

Today both sexes are on par and WrestleMania 35 was the first to have a women's match as its main event for the first time. You can therefore bet on women's wrestling matches in exactly the same way with exactly the same odds and betting markets as the men's matches.

WWE Betting Strategies

  • Back the underdogs - Since all the matches are scripted and the winners known in advance, really there is very little point in studying any form. In fact, neither wrestler should actually be more likely to win than the other, because they are told who should end the match victorious. This combined with “entertainment” normally being synonymous with controversy, and creating a talking point, it is worth considering backing whichever wrestler has the best odds.

  • Bankroll Management. This means that you should have a dedicated amount of money to use for gambling, and you just bet with this money. This helps in a number of ways, firstly it helps you to not gamble more than you can afford to lose, and knowing you have a finite amount means you can alter your stake amounts, making them smaller as you lose and larger as you win, which prevents you from losing everything. The exact amount to bet is up to you but generally between 1% to 3% of your total bankroll is consider to be about right.

Pros and Cons of betting on WWE

Pluses
  • Very sport entertaining to watch
  • Several betting markets to choose from
  • Men and Women are treated the same
Minuses
  • No real “skill” in finding value bets
  • Low bet limits and generally poor odds
FAQ. Frequently Asked Questions
  • Although the results are already known it is no different to other special markets such as who will win the Oscars, or be the next manager at a certain club. Sometimes betting on the matches is halted 24 hours before hand to make sure the people who do know the results can not bet on it.

  • They are not “rigged” as such, in that there is cheating going on. The results are known in advance, but everybody knows this, it is entertainment rather than an actual sport.

  • Yes you can, as one of the main events in the WWE calendar it should be possible to bet on every match on the card.
