Villa are in solid form despite two recent defeats and look strong for a top-four finish, while Brentford are struggling and very poor away from home, so a Villa win is expected.

Villa were genuinely looking like they might be an outside shout for a surprise title run a couple of weeks ago. That was until a humbling 4-1 loss to Arsenal and the 1-0 defeat at home to Everton, which has left them well off the pace. They are still in good form however, and looking a great shout for a top 4 finish and a place back in the Champions League. Outside of those defeats in their last 6 league games, they beat Forest 3-1, Chelsea 2-1 and drew 0-0 with Palace. They also comfortably beat Newcastle 2-0 last week away from home with an assured performance. Talking of comfortable away wins, I was also impressed with their victory in the bear pit that is Fenerbache away in the Europ League. The 2-1 win there showed composure and class in a really tough match-up. So this brings us to their opponents on Sunday afternoon, Brentford. The Bees have lost their last 2 games without scoring, both 2-0 to Chelsea away then Notts Forest at home last weekend. These 2 losses followed a run of 6 games without a loss, so it’s a surprising dip in form. What isn’t that suprsing however, is that their away form has been pretty shocking all season; they have managed just 3 wins from 11 games on the road and have suffered 8 defeats on the road. With this in mind, I can’t see them taking much from the trip to the Midlands this upcoming weekend. I think Villa are getting back to form, and with the title hopes shot, they can focus simply on managing expectations and getting the points needed for a Champions League spot. I like the odds at over 2.00 with Megapari for the Villains to get the win.
