Mexico Apertura: Atlas – Cruz Azul 20/07/2025
Betting on goals
The Mexican league is one of those that likely flies under the radar for many bettors, perhaps due to the late kickoff times. However, it has an excellent hit rate for both teams to score (BTTS) and over goals, usually with good odds.
Atlas has had a solid team since last season, though it didn’t quite achieve the success expected. In this season’s Apertura, they started strong with a 2–3 away win against Puebla.
Cruz Azul is one of the country’s powerhouses, consistently competing for trophies domestically and internationally (they recently won the Champions Cup). They’re coming off a shocking 0–0 home draw against Mazatlán.
The home side has a streak of both teams to score matches dating back to February (from the Clausura tournament), with nine consecutive games, seven of which also went over 2.5 goals. The visitors failed to score for the first time in 12 matches, but their attacking strength is not in question.
Looking at the head-to-head record, regardless of venue, we see three straight BTTS results (all draws: 1–1, 2–2, 2–2), and something similar is expected this time as well — a match that seems to start from a basic both teams to score pick.
