Combo Bet: Winner and Goals

The German and European giant looks unstoppable at the start of the new season. In seven matches across all competitions, they have achieved as many victories, scoring an impressive 26 goals. After a fairly comfortable 3–1 win over Chelsea in the Champions League, their next victim over the weekend was Hoffenheim, whom they defeated 4–1 away from home. Once again, England’s captain Harry Kane shone, scoring a hat-trick in the space of half an hour, while the ever-reliable Serge Gnabry also found the net late in the game. Bayern are brimming with confidence and, realistically, will have little trouble claiming another domestic trophy.

Werder enjoyed a pretty solid previous season, finishing in 8th place, but the preparations for this one already hinted it would not be nearly as successful. After four rounds, they sit in 14th place with only 4 points. Their convincing 4–0 away win against Mönchengladbach seems to have been just a brief flash, as Freiburg quickly brought them back to reality with a 3–0 victory in the following round.

Matches at the Allianz Arena are always a nightmare for visiting teams, and judging by this season’s performances, that will be especially true once again. Werder Bremen have little to hope for in this clash and can only pray the home side will be merciful enough to ease off the gas pedal in the closing stages of the match.
