What is a BetBuilder Bet?
A Bet Builder bet is a wager that bettors create themselves, adding selections from available markets on a specific event. Bet Builders generally require at least two selections, but can contain many more, as long as markets don’t contradict each other.
Bet Builder can be available on a range of sports. This feature is most commonly associated with football. However, many operators provide the Bet Builder function on basketball, baseball, rugby, ice hockey and more.
There are some similarities between a Bet Builder bet and an accumulator. Like an Acca, Bet Builders allow for different selections to be added to make one whole bet. However, accumulators require selections on different events, whereas a Bet Builder is made up of markets on the same event.
As with accumulators, the more selections you add to your Bet Builder bet, the higher the odds. This is because the difficulty of achieving a winning bet increases with each added selection.
There are many bookmakers who offer pre-built bets. Under the Bet Builder or Create-a-Bet tabs, you’ll find a range of pre-built wagers that the betting site has created, available for all users to bet on. Many operators also offer the Bet Builder bets created by other users, adding them to their site for other bettors to place wagers on.
Let’s look at an example of a Bet Builder bet. For our example, we’re going to use the English Premier League fixture between Newcastle United and Liverpool.
To create our Bet Builder bet, we’ll add the following selections to our betting slip:
- Liverpool to Win
- Both Teams To Score - Yes
- Over 12 Corners
- Hugo Ekitike to score first
The odds on each of our selections individually might not present much value, but if we add our selections together we see a huge increase in price. In the table below, we’ve detailed the individual odds, compared with the total odds in our Bet Builder.
Liverpool to Win | Both Teams To Score - Yes | Over 12 Corners | Hugo Ekitike to score first | Total Bet Builder odds |
---|
2.02 | 1.48 | 3.10 | 6.5 | 41.0 |
As you can see, the individual odds on our selections don’t offer great value. However, combining our selections as one whole bet sees a huge increase in odds, in turn increasing our potential winnings.
