Bologna are one of the most successful football projects of recent years in Italy. Lately they are not in their best possible form, but as they have shown in the recent past, the team has solid foundations and quickly returns to its standard level.

Their Europa League campaign is generally good and the important away win at Celta in the previous round has put them on track for a top eight finish. Their schedule is favorable, as in the final round they will play the nominal away match, on neutral ground, against the disappointing and already eliminated Maccabi Tel Aviv.

Celtic season is not going well. The team sit six points behind leaders Hearts and even their place in the qualifiers for next Champions League is under threat. The board brought Martin O’Neill back to the bench, for the second time in two months, in an attempt to restore some kind of competitive balance.

A great opportunity for the higher quality Bologna to take three points and embrace the top eight. Celtic are traditionally weak away from home, while on Sunday they face a crucial league match at the ground of leaders Hearts. That game is their priority. In the Europa League they have collected seven points and know that by winning their final round home match against eliminated Utrecht, they can continue in the competition.
