The loss of their coach and two best players has left a deep mark on Brentford and clearly affected their results at the start of the season. After a defeat to Nottingham and a win against Aston Villa, they suffered a shocking 2-1 loss away at Sunderland. What makes it even more painful is the fact that they were in the lead until the 77th minute, and also missed a penalty.

Chelsea, after a lackluster 0-0 against Crystal Palace in the opener, showed much better play in the next two matches against West Ham and Fulham. The Blues secured wins even without their best player, Cole Palmer, who is dealing with a minor injury. His absence was covered by Joao Pedro and Enzo Fernandez, both accurate in key moments – at the end of the first half and the start of the second. Thanks to that triumph, Chelsea climbed to second place in the table with 7 points, right behind the perfect Liverpool.

Although Chelsea is by no means an ideal opponent after Brentford’s tough defeat to Sunderland, Brentford has shown in the past that they can put up serious resistance against big clubs. In their last 7 head-to-heads, they have only one loss against the Blues, with as many as three wins, so it can be expected that they will once again cause serious problems for the favored opponent. Everything points to goals on both sides.
