Brentford vs Leeds – Who will come out on top?

The final game on Sunday will take place between Brentford and Leeds, both teams sit far too close to the relegation zone and will be looking to put some distance between themselves and the bottom three teams as they prepare for a busy Christmas schedule.
Brentford currently sit on 19 points, some 7 points ahead of West Ham, who currently sit in 18th place, although West Ham have a game in hand. Leeds are only 3 points ahead of West Ham. Both teams, therefore, will be hoping they can get the three points, and that is a key factor in our Brentford vs Leeds betting tips analysis.
The pressure is on Leeds manager Daniel Farke, with many fans calling for his sacking after a poor start to the season. However, coming from behind to draw with Liverpool in their last game and beating Chelsea in the match before means they have taken four points from the previous six available, and they could be at a turning point in their season.
Brentford have lost their previous two games, both away from home; their home form this season is much better, and they will be hoping that playing in front of the home fans will give them the boost needed to make sure it won’t be three defeats in a row.

Brentford- Can they continue their impressive home form?
Brentford’s overall form hasn’t been great, with only two wins in its last six games. In the previous game, they suffered a 2-0 defeat to Tottenham, making it two away losses in London in a row after losing the midweek game to Arsenal by the same scoreline. This makes it four consecutive away losses. This game, of course, takes place at home, and their home form has been far better. In November, they beat both Burnley and Newcastle 3-1 at home and, in fact, have only lost once at home all season, a narrow 1-0 defeat to Manchester City. So although their league position and recent results won’t be doing much for the team morale, they have been very hard to beat at home this season. This is why our Brentford vs Leeds betting predictions are not always on who will win.
Leeds – Have they started to turn their season around?
Morale at Leeds should be on the up, coming from behind to draw with Liverpool, beating Chelsea and even coming from 2-0 down to Man City to get back to 2-2, only to be denied a draw by a late Man City goal to lose 3-2, shows there is plenty of fight still left in the team. The away point against Liverpool in the last game out was their first away point since a 3-1 victory against bottom of the table Wolves back in mid September, making it five away defeats in a row before the Liverpool game last week.
Brentford vs Leeds – Possible Line Ups
Brentford manager Keith Andrews has tried both a 4-2-3-1 and 5-3-2 formation in recent games, but tends to favour 4-2-3-1 at home, so we expect that to continue.
Thiago has been in excellent form this season, scoring 11 goals, including two in their last home game.
The likely decision will be whether to play Yarmoliuk or Jensen in central midfield. It’s also expected that Ajer will return at Left Back after missing the second half against Tottenham due to a head injury.
Brentford Possible XI:
- GK: Kelleher
- DEF: Kayode, Collins, Van den Berg, Ajer
- MID: Henderson, Yarmoliuk
- ATT: Ouattara, Damsgaard, Schade
- ST: Igor Thiago
Daniel Farke has been playing a 3-5-2 formation, and with recent points against Chelsea and Liverpool, that’s unlikely to change.
Calvert-Lewin has scored two games running and is bound to start upfront.
His partner upfront is likely to be Okafor, as Nmecha is expected to miss a second game due to a hamstring injury.
No new injury concerns mean the only decision is whether to put the hero of Anfield, Tanaka, back in the starting line-up, who came on as a substitute to score the 96th-minute goal that got Leeds the draw. He had been dropped and replaced by Gruev for the Liverpool game after starting the win against Chelsea midweek.
Leeds possible XI:
- GK: Lucas Perri
- DEF: Rodon, Bijol, Struijk
- MID: Bogle, Ampadu, Stach, Gudmundsson, Tanaka
- ST: Calvert-Lewin, Okafor

My Prediction for Brentford vs Leeds
So, based on the information we have collected, there is a strong case for Brentford, with their impressive home form, to win. But as Leeds have managed a point and a win over Chelsea and Liverpool recently, there is an argument that they have a chance to overcome Brentford. So predicting a winner could be difficult. Therefore, we have a look at the odds for the total number of goals to be scored in the game. There have been at least three goals in each of Leeds’ last seven games, and ten of the previous eleven. Brentford’s last two games had only two goals, both away from home. Their most recent home games have been 3-1,3-1,3-2, 3-1 victories, with the only home game in the last five not to include three goals was a 1-0 defeat to Manchester City. So, with Brentford scoring three goals in four of their last five home games and Leeds’ previous seven games containing three or more goals, our Brentford vs Leeds prediction is that the game will have Over 2.5 goals.
