This match will see two newly promoted teams facing off against each other in the Premier League for the first time since they met in the same division back in the 2016/17 season. Of course, they played each other in the Championship last season, the game at Turf Moor finished 0-0, with Sunderland winning the home leg 1-0 at the back end of 2024.

Both sides had 3-0 scorelines in their opening fixtures on Saturday; however, while Burnley were taken apart by a resurgent Richarlson and Spurs, Sunderland produced a sublime 3-0 win away at West Ham. Two of the Sunderland goalscorers there are a good pick for first goalscorer Elizier Mayenda or David Ballard.

Burnley has Josh Brownhill as the focus of their attack, and he can not be counted out. Sunderland have had an excellent start away at the Hammers. They play an attacking-minded style, which still keeps a solid defence. It is high-tempo football that is difficult for teams to match. I feel that they are going to keep Burnley from scoring again in this match-up and take another home win.

While Burnley finished higher in the league last year, Sunderland has bought in good signings and came into the Premier League with real intent on staying up. If you want to hedge your bets, then look at a double chance bet for Sunderland on the win or draw. I am not discounting Burnley, I just think they are not as well prepared for the Premier League season as Sunderland are coming into this match.
