Europa League Qual.: Celje – Sabah Baku 17/07/2025
Betting on goals
In one of the most open matches of the Europa League first qualifying round, Celje came away with a 3–2 away win in Azerbaijan, coming from behind twice to secure the victory.
Sabah—coached by Valdas Dambrauskas (formerly of OFI Crete)—played well, especially in the first half, showing attacking intent and a high press. But they paid the price in the end, conceding a comeback to a more experienced side—also led by a familiar face in Albert Riera. I expect Sabah to approach the second leg in Slovenia with the same aggressive mindset.
Celje reached the Conference League quarterfinals last season and are aiming to repeat that strong European run. They’re the favorites to advance, but like last year, they remain vulnerable defensively.
Both teams to score looks like a solid bet here, and the match also has strong potential for over 2.5 goals—worth the risk.
