Champions League Qual: Copenhagen vs Malmo 12/08/2025
Betting on the Winner
The first leg of the third qualifying round for the Champions League between these clubs, played seven days ago in Malmö, was one to forget, and absolutely nothing except the final score will be remembered.
I expect much more from the return leg, at least from the home team, who are favorites to advance to the next round. Copenhagen had the initiative in the first match and, to some extent, tried to find the net, but they simply lacked ideas and chances against a strictly defensive opponent. During the 90 minutes of play, Malmö did not register a single shot on target, and their xG was a meager 0.10. It was obvious their main goal was not to lose the game and to try to pull off a surprise in the return match. We will see if they succeed.
Danes Defend Home Turf
Interestingly, in the lead-up to this match, both teams lost their league games at home against objectively weaker opponents. It’s clear their minds were already focused on this clash, which is understandable given the high stakes. In my humble opinion, Copenhagen are a class above in terms of quality, and I expect them to justify their status as favorites. I don’t believe we’ll see a goal fest at Parken this time either, but a routine home win seems like the most realistic outcome.
