Although Coritiba are traditionally strong at home, their current form and structural issues give the edge to Sao Paulo, making the DNB option on the visitors a logical value play.

Coritiba spent two seasons in the second division and returned by winning last year championship. With financially strong management, they made several transfers, though mostly players suited for teams fighting to avoid relegation. They started the season as the third favorite for relegation according to bookmakers.

Fernando Seabra, who usually presents tight and well organized teams, does not seem to have fully imposed his philosophy yet, as the last three matches turned into open games. First came a 3-3 away draw with Chapecoense, despite leading 3-1 until the 70th minute. Then followed two consecutive 2-2 draws in the state championship, where they were eliminated on penalties just one step before the final.

Sao Paulo is one of the biggest clubs in the country, but due to financial difficulties in recent years they are far from title contention. They entered this season with realistic ambitions, aiming to compete for a place in next Libertadores. At the moment they are in excellent form, with a 6-1-0 record in Paulista and Brasileirao.

Coritiba are traditionally strong at home but their on field performance raises concerns. Last Saturday’s elimination from the Paranaense final has created internal pressure. The visitors are clearly in better condition and the DNB option offers value, with stake returned in case of a draw.
