Premiership: Dundee Utd vs Hearts 31/01/2026

Hearts are in excellent form and leading the title race with growing belief, while Dundee United arrive inconsistent, making Hearts strong favourites to continue their impressive push for the championship.
Betting on Winner
Can Hearts finally break the stranglehold of Celtic and Rangers of the Scottish Premier League? In 13 years Celtic have won it every year since its rebrand in 2013 apart from the 2020-21 season. Beyond that you have to go back to 1985 for the last team not from Glasgow to win the league (An Alex Ferguson-inspired Aberdeen) and way back to the 1959-60 season to find Hearts’ last top-flight league triumph. Fans are starting to believe, however and with good reason, they are 4 points clear of 2nd placed Rangers at the moment and 6 clear of Celtic. Derek McInnes has built a squad with international flair and a solid Scottish base and they have got on with the job of beating teams around them and doing the job in the two biggest games that matter against the Glasgow clubs. This was apparent last weekend with a 87th minute equaliser to grab a 2-2 draw in front of a hysterical home crowd against Celtic. They have lost only 2 games all season, and have already beaten and drawn with United in their two previous fixtures. I’ve always had a soft spot for Dundee United. I like their bright orange shirts, and they won the Scottish Cup when I was a kid in 1991, the same year Spurs won the FA Cup. They have had a few ups and downs, but are doing ok at the moment, though they look a bit off their 4th placed pace from last season. Their form coming into this shows just 1 win from 6, including 2 losses and 2 draws. I can’t see them putting a dent in Hearts’ title hopes on Sunday, and I’m liking the odds of over 1.8 for Hearts to carry on their incredible title bid.
