With only three races in the 2025 Formula One season remaining, next up is the Las Vegas Grand Prix. After a short run of disappointing performances, Lando Norris has turned things around and has won 3 races in a row, including the Sprint race at the Brazilian Grand Prix. Making him 24 points clear of the closest rival and McLaren team mate Oscar Piastri.

The Las Vegas Grand Prix is the newest Grand Prix on the calendar. Only added to the calendar in 2023, this will be the 3rd time in recent history that the race will take place.

There are only three races to go, and with McLaren already crowned as Constructors Champions for the second year running, the only prize left up for grabs is the Drivers’ Championship.

Technically, there are still three drivers that could win the Championship, with strong performances at the last two Grand Prix’s Lando Norris is now the odds-on favourite to win his first Drivers’ Championship. Norris has a 24-point lead over team-mate Oscar Piastri, who is on his worst run of form, having failed to be on the podium in the last five races.
Finally, Max Verstappen still has an outside chance of the Championship, being 49 points behind Norris with 75 points still available. However, being only 25 points off 2nd place, Piastri, Verstappen has a chance to stop the Drivers Championship ending in a McLaren 1-2.

Who are the Formula 1 drivers to watch out for?

So, with three races to go, who are the main contenders to watch out for to win the Las Vegas Grand Prix?

Lando Norris -Looking to extend his lead in the Drivers’ Championship.

  • World Ranking: 1st
  • Record: 7 Wins 17 Podiums

Lando Norris has hit top form just at the right time and taken hold of the Drivers’ Championship. After winning in Mexico, Lando won the Sprint Race in Brazil and followed that by qualifying on pole and winning the main race to extend his lead from just 1 point before the Brazilian Grand Prix to 24 points after it. A win in Las Vegas will mean Lando would have at least a 31-point lead going into the last two races, with his current form, he certainly is a favourite for our Las Vegas Grand Prix prediction

Oscar Piastri – It’s now or never.

  • World Ranking: 2nd
  • Record: 7 Wins 14 Podiums

Oscar hasn’t won a race since the Dutch Grand Prix back on the 31st of August. After that race, he had a 34-point lead in the Drivers’ Championship and was over 100 points clear of Max Verstappen. However, in the last five races, no podiums has seen him drop to 2nd place and only 15 points ahead of Max Verstappen. However, with three races to go, there are still enough points available to turn things around. But it would have to start in Las Vegas.

Max Verstappen – Can Max stop McLaren from taking all the prizes?

  • World Ranking: 3rd
  • Record: 5 wins 12 Podiums

Max Verstappen is still in with a slim chance of winning his 5th World Title. His late charge to the title stumbled at the Mexican Grand Prix and continued in Brazil, where he could only manage 3rd place. He had finished 1st or 2nd in the previous 5 races. He did win the first Las Vegas Grand Prix back in 2023. Starting in the pit lane for the last race still didn’t stop him from getting onto the podium, and its very likely he will manage to do the same again.

Kimi Antonelli – Can he get two podiums in a row?

  • World Ranking: 7th
  • Record: 0 wins 2 Podiums

Kimi Antonellia hasn’t had the best season, but his performance at the Brazilian Grand Prix was excellent, finishing in 2nd place to pick up his second podium of the season. Not being a title contender means he’s free to race and go for the win without the fear of it costing him a title. For this reason, we think he’s certainly in for the chance of a podium finish.

George Russell – Can he be the first to win twice in Las Vegas?

  • World Ranking: 4th
  • Record: 2 wins 8 Podiums

Russell is the only other driver this year to have won a race other than the McLarens and Verstappen. He won the 2024 Las Vegas Grand Prix, and when the big three in this year’s title race have had issues, he’s been there as the next best to take the win. With Oscar and Max needing a win to keep their chances alive, some early contact between them is certainly possible, giving someone like Russell a chance to finish higher than they normally would.

Prediction for the Las Vegas Grand Prix

So, our Las Vegas Grand Prix prediction is that Lando Norris will continue his excellent form and secure another win. Much will come down to qualifying, and with Max having his worst qualifying of his career at the last race, and Norris outperforming Oscar in recent races. We think Norris will come out on top and lead into the first corner. No doubt Max and Oscar will be up there challenging, and if Norris can avoid any contact in the opening lap, we believe he’s most likely to go on to secure victory.
