Match for the 1st qualifying round of the Champions League. In the first leg, Shelbourne won 1–0.

Linfield were extremely poor in the first match and were fortunate to escape with just a 1–0 loss. The scoreline does leave the door open for a potential comeback, but the Northern Irish side will need a major improvement if they’re to turn things around.

Shelbourne looked clearly superior in the Dublin leg. They dominated throughout, created numerous quality chances (19–4 in total shots), but had to settle for the narrow win. Despite underperforming in the Irish league, the fact that they’re in full competitive rhythm seems to be making a real difference at this stage.

It’s unclear how much of an impact home advantage can have here. Linfield will need to push forward, but based on what we saw in the first leg, they looked a level below. This is definitely a tie with its own set of variables, but Shelbourne still look like the better side and arguably should be considered the favorite in the second leg as well.
