Premier League: Manchester Utd vs Manchester City 17/01/2026

Betting on Winner
Another Manchester derby and, let’s face it, another Manchester United crisis. Out both the cups at the earliest stage since 1964, and bringing in yet another interim manager till the end of the season. This isn’t a tactic that has really worked for them in the past, apart from maybe when they bought in Ole, but then they sacked him the first bad season he had. I have no idea what’s going on with this club, to be honest, and think it’s gone far beyond changing the manager annually to turn things around here. However the derby is the highlight of the season for many fans, well that and the “derby” against Liverpool, and they will expect the players to be giving this 100 per cent. I can’t see this happening. They looked a bit directionless against Brighton in the Cup, and Carrick coming in till the end of the season is hardly going to fire them up. The fans are also going to be on the team’s back as soon as things start going wrong! Man City are the exact opposite of United in many ways with over 10 years of stability under Guardiola, still in both cups (and Europe) and they smashed in 10 at home against Exeter at the weekend (Watching the Exeter fans celebrate City’s goals by the end was hilarious). I have to be honest Man Utd do have a habit of pulling off the occasional result, against all the odds, that makes everyone think they have turned a corner but I’m not expecting that outcome on Saturday. You can get odds just under 2.00 on Man City winning when they make the short journey across town and really twist the knife into their (moany?) neighbours.
