Manisa went through a complete team overhaul during the summer, including a coaching change, and the club’s primary goal this season is simply to stay in the league. So far, they have been performing quite solidly — in terms of results, they have built a comfortable cushion compared to the teams in the relegation zone. After nine matches, they have three wins, and in the previous round, they put up a very good fight against the league leaders and the only undefeated team, Besiktas.

On the other side on Saturday will be the ambitious project Bahcesehir. After a two-week break, they returned to Eurocup action, where they were surprisingly convincingly defeated at home by Neptunas, 100-85. It was already their third failure in the competition, where they have the highest ambitions and are targeting the trophy.

Although Manisa may not have the depth or individual quality to consistently compete with more expensive and talented rosters, they cannot be considered a weak team. I expect Manisa to play a quality game and be a competitive team against the theoretically stronger rival. The final result may not go their way, but I have no doubt that at least in the first half, they will provide serious resistance.
