Midweek round in the Premier League with matches now carrying great importance as the season heads toward the final stretch.

Newcastle are struggling, with just one win in seven matches, and have moved away from the European qualification spots. The Magpies must improve immediately to avoid a disappointing season after the progress of the previous two years under coach Eddie Howe. They come from consecutive 3-2 results, a home defeat to Everton and a home win over Qarabag in the Champions League.

They have nine straight goal/goal and over 2.5 goals in all competitions. Defensive problems persist and the matches against Barcelona for the Champions League are coming up.

Manchester United have managed to build a strong run after the coaching change and are pushing for a return to the next Champions League, something few expected. With Carrick now in charge they are unbeaten in 11 league matches. Eight of those eleven were both teams to score, showing that the improvement has mainly come in attack, as defensively they still concede chances regularly.

They will also have absences in the defensive line for the match at St James Park, where they have generally struggled in recent years.

A match that should open up in tempo, certainly with chances at both ends. The price on the combination of both teams to score and over 2.5 goals suits me.
