After four seasons away, Olympiacos are back in the Champions League, a competition where they were once regular participants. This time, however, they face an entirely new format. The Cypriot side reached the group stage after an impressive qualifying run, eliminating Maccabi Tel Aviv, Dynamo Kyiv, and Red Star Belgrade along the way. The tie against the Serbian champions was especially dramatic, with Brazilian international Yaya becoming the hero after scoring an equalizer in the 89th minute of the return leg.

Still, it’s clear that Olympiacos have far more experience and quality at this level. Their transfer policy in recent years has changed significantly – instead of signing aging veterans and former stars, they are now building a balanced, competitive squad hungry for success. They are expected to impose their style from the first minute, attack aggressively, and try to demoralize the Cypriot debutants with an early goal.
