Super Cup Final: Paris Saint-Germain – Tottenham 13/08/2025
Betting on goals
Being a personal fan of the “mighty” Tottenham Hotspur, I’m looking forward to this game as we get back into Europe’s elite competitions, although I have to be honest, the thought of them winning it is more in hope than expectation!
There are a few reasons for this. Firstly, looking at PSG’s forward line and the current Champions League holders, have an exciting front 3 of Ousmane Dembélé, Khvicha Kvaratskhelia, and Désiré Doué, who all have goals in them. They play expansive attacking football and will have Tottenham in trouble from the early stages. They are young too and full of running. Meanwhile, Spurs will be hoping summer signings Kudus and Gibbs-White can have an immediate impact in this match.
Both sides have been busy over the summer, but I think PSG are going to be a bit more switched on for this game, especially after failing in their World Club Cup bid in a surprise loss to Chelsea, and will want to make themselves kings of Europe. Tottenham’s new manager, Thomas Frank, will see this as an outside chance of grabbing some early silverware, and Guglielmo Vicario in the Tottenham goal will need to be as strong as he was in the epic Europa League final last month. I can’t see him or Spurs backline being strong enough to hold out against PSG, however, who I expect to go for goals from the off. Frank likes to play a direct attacking style as well, and this will play into the French team’s hands.
My bet for this one is a goal in each half for PSG, as I think they will hit Spurs early and then score later in the second half when gaps are opening up.
