A balanced clash in Serie A, with bottom side Pisa hosting another newly promoted team, Sassuolo, who have looked clearly superior so far and well away from danger.

Pisa returned to the top flight after many years and, as expected, are struggling. However, they show signs of fighting in recent matches, with draws against Udinese and Atalanta, and an early 0-2 lead away to Inter that later turned into a 6-2 defeat. They look improved offensively, something essential if they are to battle for survival. Last season in Serie B, they beat Sassuolo 3-1 at home.

Sassuolo are a familiar name in Serie A and quickly found their rhythm, picking up important wins that currently keep them far from any danger. The Neroverdi have faced a tough schedule recently and will play for points, as they are a team that does not sit back and does not play as cynically as other Italian sides of similar level. A positive development is the return from injury of their best player, forward Berardi.

After seeing Pisa shock San Siro with two quick goals, I am influenced and believe they can score despite their generally mediocre statistics. However, the hosts rarely keep clean sheets and the visitors are a capable attacking side.
