Betting on Winner

The Scottish Premier League title race hasn’t been so interesting for quite a while as it’s almost a three-horse race. Hearts have stolen a march on the two Glasgow sides and they are both now in a desperate battle to overturn them. Rangers are 4 points behind the leaders currently in 2nd spot and are looking more likely to bridge the gap. They suffered a surprise 2-1 loss to the leaders on 21st December but since then have hit great form, with 6 straight wins. This included a 3-1 derby day win away to Celtic and their last three games have been won without conceding a single goal, 3-0 vs Dundee and 2-0 against Aberdeen home and away. They now look settled under their new manager, German Danny Röhldespite being eliminated from the Europa League under his stewardship. The domestic league however has proved very different. This is bad news for Hibernian who although they are 4th had a horrendous 4-1 loss to Falkirk last weekend and a draw with Motherwell the week before that. They have actually won 3 of the last 6, which is likely good enough to see them maintain a European qualifying spot by the end of the year. Their big win in this run was becoming only the 2nd team to turn Hearts over with the 3-2 home win at Christmas time. I can’t really see them doing the same here against Rangers however. Yuletime is a funny time of year for British football with odd results and tired players. I think the bookies have overpriced Rangers at around 2.30 to get the win away from home on Sunday and I’d say jump on this as the Glasgow teams will be pushing hard to reclaim top spot all the way to the season’s end.
