Qarabag are one of the pleasant surprises of this year’s Champions League. They entered the League Phase after three summer knockout rounds with 6/6 wins, then beat Benfica 3-2 away (after trailing 2-0 by the 16th minute), 2-0 at home vs Copenhagen, and even led before losing 3-1 away at Bilbao.

They are extremely well-organized and productive on the pitch and, although theoretically not belonging at this level, they have already caused some upsets.

There is no doubt that Chelsea are clearly superior in quality. However, odds of 1.35 for the away win might prove too small for a game full of potential traps. To reach Baku from London, the team crossed four different time zones and will face an in-form opponent who plays without fear, no matter who the rival is.

I expect an open game. Chelsea kept a clean sheet in Saturday’s derby against Tottenham, but before that, they had only two clean sheets in their previous twelve matches. Qarabag have attacking talent — they’ve scored in all nine of their European games this season — and in front of their home crowd, they can at least contribute to the scoring.
