Barcelona head to Real Betis hoping they’ll be able to move ahead of fierce rivals Real Madrid at the top of the La Liga table. A win against Betis could do just that, with Barcelona just a point behind in second place.

Real Betis, though, have enjoyed a decent season so far, and currently sit in 5th place in La Liga. However, they have a poor record against Barcelona in recent years. Betis’ last victory against Barca came back in December 2021, since then they’ve lost seven of the last nine meetings between the two in all competitions.

We’re going to analyse how this La Liga fixture might play out. Can Real Betis continue their good recent form? Or can Barcelona keep the pressure on leaders Real Madrid at the top of the league? Read on to find our Real Betis v Barcelona prediction.

Latest Real Betis vs Barcelona Team News

We’re waiting to see if the Betis winger Antony has his suspension extended. The Brazilian received a one match ban after his sending off against Girona, but there’s rumours of this being extended due to the nature of his red card.

As for Barcelona, they’re without Gavi and Pedri, and this fixture is likely to come too soon for Marc-Andre Ter Stegen. Marcus Rashford has shaken off injury and illness and should be available to play a part in this one.

Real Betis – Can Betis push for a Champions League spot?

Real Betis are in good form heading into their clash with Barcelona. They’re still lagging behind Atletico Madrid who currently sit in fourth place, so a win in this one could go a long way in keeping the pressure on.

Manuel Pellegrini’s men, before the Derbi Sevillano, had won six of their previous 10 games in all competitions, with the only defeat in that spell coming against the aforementioned Atletico, their rivals in the race for a Top 4 place.

Betis don’t have the greatest record against Barcelona, but will be hoping their fortunes can change in this one.

Barcelona – Chance to go to the top of La Liga?

Barcelona are a point behind La Liga leaders Real Madrid and a positive result here could see them jump ahead of their fiercest enemies, depending on results elsewhere. Their recent form has been a little hit and miss, before their Champions League clash with Chelea they’d won six but lost three of their last ten games in all competitions.

However, the chance to put a huge amount of pressure on Real Madrid surely can’t be missed. Betis are a good side, but knowing they could go top of the league with a victory here means Barcelona should rise to the challenge.

They’ve scored plenty on the road this season, but conceded a fair few too. Barcelona will probably need to score two or three to win this one, but a team of their quality should be able to do just that. Before their Chelsea fixture, Barcelona had scored at least three goals in five of their previous six matches. For our Real Betis v Barcelona prediction, we’ve analysed the home and away form of both teams.

Real Betis v Barcelona – Possible Line Ups

Real Betis are waiting to hear if Antony will be available for this one. Antony was sent off for violent conduct in their 1-1 draw against Girona, and his one-match automatic suspension might be increased. If so, he’ll be a big miss as Betis look to push for a Champions League spot. Goalkeeper Pau Lopez will be pushing to make his return from injury. If he’s deemed unfit, Alvaro Valles will continue between the sticks.

Barcelona are still without long term absentee Gavi, along with fellow midfielder Pedri who’s out with a hamstring injury. Goalkeeper Marc-Andre Ter Stegen might make his long awaited return after a back injury but it’s likely Joan Garcia will continue to deputise.

To develop our Real Betis v Barcelona prediction, we’ve analysed the likely starting line ups of both teams.

Real Betis Possible XI:

  • GK: Alvaro Valles
  • DEF: Hector Bellerin, Marc Bartra, Natan, Valentin Gomez
  • MID: Pablo Fornals, Giovani Lo Celso, Marc Roca
  • ATT: Abde Ezzalzouli, Chuco Hernandez, Rodrigo Riquelme

Barcelona Possible XI:

  • GK: Joan Garcia
  • DEF: Jules Kounde, Pau Cubarsi, Eric Garcia, Gerard Martin
  • MID: Fermin Lopez, Dani Olmo, Ferran Torres
  • ATT: Lamine Yamal, Robot Lewandowski, Marcus Rashford

My Prediction for Real Betis v Barcelona

We’re in for an exciting game as Real Betis welcome Barcelona to the Estadio La Cartuja. Both teams have plenty to play for – Betis are looking to push their way into a Champions League spot and Barcelona know that a win here could see them move to the top of the La Liga table. Our Real Betis v Barcelona prediction has taken this into consideration.

Barcelona’s away form has been very good this season, but Betis have done well on home soil, winning four and drawing one of seven. Barca have scored 14 from their seven away fixtures, but have conceded 12. As for Betis, their home games have yielded 11 goals for and only six conceded.

It’s a tough game to call, but we’re going for the away win. They’ll be goals in it for both sides, though, but the extra quality that this Barcelona side possesses should be enough for the away side to claim all three points.
