Season opener in Italy always requires caution, but I am willing to take a risk based on the data we have before the first kick-off.

Roma stabilized last year under Ranieri, improved a lot along the way, and this season moved quickly to hire perhaps the best coach in the country in recent years. Gasperini did amazing work at Atalanta and is expected to deliver also at the demanding club of Rome. He may need some time, but the roster has not changed much compared to last season.

Bologna overachieved two years ago with a top-four finish and again last year by winning the Cup, but this summer its transfer balance is negative and its image in friendlies has been worrying (among others losing 4-2 to OFI and beating Levadiakos 3-2).

The odds for the home win are high and worth the risk.
