This match will take place in UEFA Qualifying group C which is a 4 team group and sees the top team go directly to the World Cup finals and the team in second place go through to the playoffs. Scotland and Denmark have been dominant in the group and left both Belarus and Greece in their wake in what seems to have become a two-way fight for top spot.
With the opening game a 0-0 draw between these two this game in Scotland will decide who heads to the World CUp and who will be playing in nerve shredding playoff matches.
Day: 18 November
 Time: 19:45
 Stadium: Hampden Park, Glasgow, UK
Tournament: World Cup Qualifying – UEFA- Group C
Both sides are coming into this unbeaten at this stage in the competition having won 3 and drawn against each other. Scotland saw off Belarus 2-1 home and 2-0 away and beat Greece comfortably 3-1 at home. Denmark have got 2 of their 3 away fixtures out the way winning 3-0 in Athens and hammering 6 past Belarus in the neutral ground in Hungary. They beat Greece 3-1 at home last time out to get thier biggest worrying fixture out the way.
Before either side played those games they fought out a tight 0-0 draw in Copenhagen. The match was very much dominated by Denmark in terms of possession and chances but the Scots, who can be poor away from home, dug in defensively and made sure they came away with a valuable point towards their World Cup dreams.
Scotland
Scotland enter the game in good form and are looking the best they have done in many years. Once a regular at World Cups they appeared at 10 ot of 15 editions between 1950-1998 (although never managing to get out of the group stage!). Since then however they have not made it to another one, but 2 consecutive appearances at the Euros have given their supporters more recent tastes of being at International Tournaments again.
They were relegated from the Nations League B in 2024 after losing 3-1 to Greece on aggregate in the relegation playoffs. However they had a strong group showing with wins over Poland and Croatia and a 0-0 draw with Portugal. They are unbeaten in their group and have always performed much better at home than away.
They have won 3 and lost one in this group beating Belaurus home and away and Greece at home, they have a tricky away trip to Greece but with the Greeks already out they will fancy their chances of taking this match into a winner takes all showdown.
Denmark
Denmark are in good form coming in to this game having beaten two of the groups teams and only failing to win at home versus the Scots. They made it to the Nations League Quarter Finals after finishing runners up in their group but just lost out to eventual winners Portugal 5-3 on aggregate after extra time. Having retained League A status though they can maintain their position as one of Europe’s top international teams.
Denmark have been well represented at the World Cup Finals down the years, despite only making them for the first time in Mexico 1986. Since then they have appeared at 5 of the last 9 editions and will be looking to improve that record and maybe play in the Mexican heat again in 2026.
They have flown through the group with wins home and away against Greece and beat Belarus comfortabley as well away. They should see off Belarus again before this fixture kicks off to make this match simply a case of who flies to America and who heads to the playoff zone.
Scotland vs Denmark – Possible lineups
In terms of line ups these are important when we are considering making a Scotland vs Denmark prediction. Let us look at Scotland in a bit more depth first. In goal they have the excellent Angus Gunn but still retain the experienced 42 year old Criaig Gordon in the squad as an option as well. Gordon has 80 caps and there are only 2 other players in the squad with more caps than him: Aston VIlla’s John McGinn and Liverpool’s Andy Robertson, who will both be likely starters. The back line includes a lot of experience and knows each other well. The midfield and forwards have been to major tournaments together. Up front the main danger man is Italian based Che Adams.
Looking over the Denmark squad sees a wealth of International experience, with the main standout from that being Christian Eriksen who has 145 caps and a record of a goal nearly every 3 games! He of course came back after a near-fatal heart failure on the pitch at the Euros but will be leading the team into this match. Elsewhere Celtic-based keeper Kasper Schmeichel has 117 caps and will be at home in Hampden Park. Hojlund and Wind will be the men up front for Scotland to try and keep at bay.
Scotland possible XI:
GK: Gunn
DEF: Robertson, Tierney, Hanley, Hendry
MID: McTominay, McGinn, Gilmour, McLean
ATT: Adams, Dykes
Denmark possible XI:
GK: Schmeichal
DEF: Andersen, Vestergaard, Maehle, Christensen
MID: Eriksen, Damsgaard, Norgaard
ATT: Winf, Hojlund

Prediction Scotland vs Denmark
So having now looked into the full pre-match stats we can make our Scotland vs Denmark prediction. With so much riding on this game, it’s certainly going to be a tightly fought and nervy encounter. I’m finding it really hard to predict a winner in this matchup. The teams are quite evenly matched, but with home advantage, I fancy the Scots to get the win they need to make it through to the World Cup Finals. I think they are going to scrape through by the odd goal in a closely fought match and that is my prediction for this upcoming game. Scotland to win.
With odds ars high as in the range of 5.0-7.0 Scotland are definitely going to be the value bet
