Champions League Qual: Slovan vs Kairat 12/08/2025
Betting on Double Chance
The first leg of the second round of Champions League qualifying, played in Almaty, ended with Kairat’s 1–0 victory. The home side showed a solid defense and capitalized effectively on a penalty in the 90th minute, while Slovan appeared uninterested and ineffective in the final third.
In the return leg, I expect a more aggressive approach from the Slovaks, but Kairat has shown they know how to play and that they are highly underrated in this matchup. Their defensive discipline and ability to hit on the counter make them a dangerous opponent even away from home. Statistically, Slovan rarely loses at home, but against such a well-organized rival, X2 (draw or Kairat win) has realistic chances.
Kairat will play patiently in Bratislava and wait for the hosts to make a mistake. Even a draw sends them through, meaning their focus will be on defense and set pieces as their main weapon. Their win in the first leg gives them additional confidence and makes their tactical plan easier to execute.
In my opinion, the value lies in the double chance for the visitors — Slovan will have to take risks, and Kairat has everything needed to punish that or at least secure a draw.
