Stuttgart once again presents a very competitive team that will fight to secure a ticket for the next Champions League. They started 2026 in impressive fashion, winning 4-1 (4-0 at halftime) away against Leverkusen and 3-2 at home against Eintracht Frankfurt. Two victories with very strong performances against opponents with the same objectives.

Union are having a fairly solid season. They sit in the upper half of the table, far from the relegation battle. Theoretically they have chances for a European ticket, but it does not look easy at all to overtake any of the teams above them.

Stuttgart have looked at their best in the first matches of 2026. So far, they consistently take care of home games against opponents of this level. Union played on Thursday and will have two fewer days of rest. They will play defensively, but it will not be easy for them to leave with a positive result.
