Can Lando Norris Stretch His Lead at the Top?

The Brazilian Gran Prix is upon us as we approach the end of the 2025 Formula 1 season. With four races to come, the battle to finish top of the Driver’s Championship is hotting up, with Lando Norris just a point ahead of teammate Oscar Piastri at the top of the table. Read on to find our Brazilian Grand Prix prediction.

  • Day: Sunday 9th November
  • Time: 09:00 (local time)
  • Circuit: Interlagos Circuit, Sao Paulo
  • Title / Organisation: Test Match (Series best of 5)

There’s four races to go in the 2025 Formula 1 World Championship season. The Constructor’s Championship is over, with McClaren’s 10th title already in the bag. We turn our attention to the Drivers’ Championship, with McClaren’s Lando Norris and Oscar Piastri currently sitting in first and second place.

It’s almost assured these two drivers will finish in first and second, it’s the order which is yet to be decided. Piastri was looking good to claim his first ever F1 World Drivers’ Championship title, but poor showings at the Mexico City and United States Grand Prix events has led Norris to sneak into the lead by a single point.

Max Verstappen, the four-times winner, looks too far away to launch a late attack to win the Drivers’ Championship. Verstappen currently sits in third place in the rankings with 321 points, 35 points behind Piastri in second. However, with Piastri’s recent poor form, the Dutch driver will still believe he’s in with a chance for a top two finish.

However, all eyes will be on Lando Norris. The British Driver is in pole position (pardon the pun) to secure his first Drivers’ Championship and there’s few who would bet against him doing just that. Norris won his sixth Grand Prix in 2025 at Mexico City and is favourite to repeat the feat in Brazil.

Who are the Formula 1 drivers to watch out for?

As the 2025 F1 season enters its final stages, the drivers to watch out for are:

Lando Norris – Looking to Cement his place at the top of the Leaderboard

  • World Ranking: 1st
  • Record: 6 Wins 16 Podiums

Lando Norris is on course to win his first ever Drivers’ Championship. With six wins and 16 podium finishes this season, a final push is what’s required to ensure he does just that. Norris won the last GP, held at Mexico City, and knows a win here too will strengthen his claim for the title. While there’s only a point separating him and his team mate Oscar Piastri, it’s hard to see past a Norris win for our Brazilian Grand Prix prediction.

Oscar Piastri – Hoping to find form at the right time

  • World Ranking: 2nd
  • Record: 7 Wins 14 Podiums

Oscar Piastri was looking in great shape to win his first F1 title, but his recent form has seen the Australian drop into second place on the Drivers’ Championship leaderboard. Piastri really needs to find some form as we head into the final four races of the season, with even second place not assured. For our Brazilian Grand Prix prediction, we’ve analysed the chances of Piastri at least finishing on the Podium. If he fails to do so, and Norris wins, it will be even more difficult for Piastri to oust his teammate from the top of the rankings.

Max Verstappen – Can Verstappen launch a late attack for top place?

  • World Ranking: 3rd
  • Record: 5 wins 11 Podiums

Four-times F1 World Champion Max Verstappen might be lagging behind in third place, but he still will maintain hope of a late charge to add pressure on the two McClaren drivers. While Lando Norris is only a point ahead of Oscar Piastri, his good form, coupled with Piastri losing form in the last two races, means Verstappen will believe a second place finish overall at least is still possible. There’s work to do, but Max Verstappen has won the last two Grand Prix races at Sao Paulo and a third straight victory at this track could go a long way in deciding who ultimately finishes on top. For our Brazilian Grand Prix prediction, we’ve taken this aspect into account.

George Russell – Looking for his highest ever F1 season finish

  • World Ranking: 4th
  • Record: 2 Wins 8 Podiums

George Russell heads to Sao Paulo looking for his third win of the season. The British driver has won at Singapore and Canada, but a third victory looks unlikely. However, a good showing in Sao Paulo could see Russell cement his fourth position in the Drivers’ Championship, which would equal his best ever season finish. For our Brazilian Grand Prix prediction, we don’t believe Russell can do enough to win, but a Podium finish isn’t out of the question.

Charles Leclerc – Can he win his first GP of the season?

  • World Ranking: 5th
  • Record: 0 Wins 7 Podiums

Many might have expected Charles Leclerc to push on from his third-place finish in 2024, but that’s not proven to be the case. The Ferrari driver hasn’t won all season, and fifth place in the overall Drivers’ Championship is looking the most likely result. Leclerc hasn’t done enough to convince us he can affect our Brazilian Grand Prix prediction, despite the fact he did finish second in the Mexican Grand Prix last time out.

Prediction for the Brazilian Grand Prix

Our Brazilian Grand Prix prediction is for Lando Norris to win. The Sao Paulo track is a great opportunity for the British driver to extend his lead at the top of the Drivers’ Championship. Oscar Piastri, in reality, really needs at least a Podium finish to stay in touch with his teammate and halt his bad run of form. Max Verstappen has an excellent record here, too. However, it’s really difficult to see past a Norris win, with a first ever Formula 1 Outright title well within his grasp.
