Champions League: Tottenham vs Villarreal 16/09/25

Betting on Goals
A very encouraging start to the season for Tottenham, who won three of their first four league matches and with nine points sit in second place in the standings. They closed the transfer window in spectacular fashion, as Simons and Kolo Muani significantly raise their attacking quality.
Thomas Frank is capable of building a team with character, but he has no real experience at this level of competition. With the home win priced below 2.00, Tottenham’s victory holds no real value.
Villarreal spent over €100 million in the summer transfer window (roughly equal to their sales income) and began the season with much more quality depth in their squad. Marcelino, true to his principles, once again presents a very attacking side, one that creates and scores easily but still struggles defensively.
Two teams with similar styles of football: high pressing, high intensity, and attacking quality. Villarreal probably has a better chance than the odds suggest, but they are also a side whose matches are almost always wide open. I expect a fast tempo and chances at both ends, which leads me to the over.
