Denmark have a team with a high ceiling, with many players starring in top European leagues. In the qualifying group they had inconsistent performances and essentially lost first place in their last two matches.

They gave the impression they had by far the best team in the group and second place is clearly a failure. To secure a ticket to the World Cup they must beat North Macedonia at home and then win away against the winner of Czechia – Ireland.

North Macedonia finished third in the 10th qualifying group and entered the playoffs through the Nations League. The game is a knockout and if the visitors fall behind, they will have to take risks and open up, which will make things easier for Denmark who are capable of simplifying qualification.
