Final score: RB Leipzig 3–0 Borussia Mönchengladbach

Match preview

The Bundesliga season kicks off for RB Leipzig as they welcome Borussia Mönchengladbach to the Red Bull Arena on August 29, 2026. Leipzig, with a clean slate for the new campaign, will be eager to make a strong statement from the outset. Their recent head-to-head record against Gladbach is solid, including two wins and two draws in their last five encounters, suggesting a psychological edge.

Borussia Mönchengladbach, however, will be looking to improve upon a challenging previous season that saw them finish with a 25% win rate. Their recent form, with one win, three draws, and one loss in their last five matches, indicates a side capable of grinding out results but lacking consistent victory. The Foals will need to tighten their defence, having conceded 50 goals last term. With the odds heavily favouring a home win and an over 2.5 goals market, expect Leipzig to push for an attacking display. The key battle will likely be in midfield, as Gladbach attempts to disrupt Leipzig's rhythm and counter-attack.
