Australia vs England Prediction – Can Australia Wrap Up The Series Already?

This Ashes series has not gone well for England. There’s been little flashes of quality, Joe Root’s first century on Australian soil being one of them, but overall the home side have dominated proceedings. Australia have built partnerships while batting, looked constantly dangerous when bowling and showed urgency in the field.
England, on the other hand, have not. Devoid of ideas, intensity and confidence, England need to find a way to win this Third Test if they want to stand any chance of lifting the Ashes urn at the end of the series. A tough ask, made even tougher with the return of Australia captain Pat Cummins.
Dropped catches galore, poor bowling and even poorer batting, England have not started this Ashes Series well at all. Australia haven’t really had to try. Two easy victories so far, a third victory at the Adelaide Oval will mean Australia will retain the Ashes yet again.
England’s recent record in Australia is woeful. They haven’t won a Test there, let alone a Series, since Ashes success in the 2010/2011 season. For our Australia vs England betting prediction, we’ve analysed their chances of finally achieving a Test win. We’ve also examined probably line ups, conditions Can England stop the rot? Or will Australia take the Third Test, and with it the Series? Let’s take a look at how the Test is likely to play out.

England have stated constantly that they’ve been preparing for this Ashes Series for four years. Well, obviously four years isn’t long enough. England have looked well below par. If you take away Ben Stokes, Joe Root and Jofra Archer, the England line up looks poor. Performances have been woeful, even more so when you consider that two of Australia’s best bowlers in Pat Cummins and Josh Hazlewood have been out injured.
Australia haven’t been at their imperious best, but they haven’t had to be. Mitchell Starc continued his fantastic start to the Series with eight wickets at the Gabba, in the process beating Wasim Akram’s record of the highest number of Test wickets taken by a left-arm fast bowler. No one else has particularly stood out for the Australians, but as we say they haven’t had to. They’ve not really had to try especially hard to win, which makes it all the more galling for England fans.
What is the latest team news?
An important factor in making an accurate Australia vs England prediction, is to look at the latest team news. Both teams have had injuries to key players to contend with and England look
Australia – Looking to Wrap Up the Series already
We expect Nathan Lyon to make a return to the Australian side for the Third Test. His omission from the team at the Gabba came as a shock, but the spinner should return for this one. Lyon has an incredible bowling record at the Adelaide Oval, taking more wickets at this venue than any other bowler in history.
Josh Hazlewood will miss out once more, he may possibly miss the entire series after injuring his achilles. The Australian fast bowler has already missed the first two Tests due to a hamstring problem.
Usman Khawaja will likely miss out in Adelaide. The opener missed the second Test due to injury, but he’ll find it difficult to find his way back into the side after Jake Weatherald impressed at the Gabba. Travis Head is also likely to continue in opening the batting.
England – A Must Win Game for Stokes and Co
Captain Ben Stokes, along with Joe Root, are the only England players who look like they’ve got any fight in them. Changes need to be made to the side for the Third Test, but where they come from is hard to see. Mark Wood is likely to miss the Third Test through injury, which is a huge blow to the England side. If Wood does miss out, we could see either or both of Matthew Potts and Josh Tongue called into the starting line up. They’re likely to replace Gus Atkinson and Brydon Carse.
Jacob Bethell might make a return to the Test side after impressing against Australia A. Bethell showed fight and desire as he made his way to 71 in the second innings, something most of the current England Test side are well and truly lacking.

Prediction for Australia vs England
There’s little doubt in our minds that the home side will win this comfortably. As an England fan, it pains me to say it but we’ve been second best so far with little hope of improvement. There’s no value in betting on Australia to win the Test, so we’ve considered different markets for our Australia vs England prediction.
Travis Head has an excellent record at the Adelaide Oval. In his last three Tests there, he’s scored three centuries, including a 140 in 141 balls against India last time out. The Adelaide Oval is his home ground, too. While it’s true that these centuries were made when batting in the middle of the order, rather than opening, we still think Head will do well. England’s bowling line up, with the exception of Jofra Archer, isn’t the most inspiring and, if Head can deal with the new ball well, we expect him to make a couple of decent scores. That is, of course, Australia even have to bat twice.
