From the moment the Champions League knockout bracket was drawn, it looked like we would have a derby here. And we do. First act in Barcelona, the return leg next week in Madrid, where they played last Saturday for the league, with Barca winning 2-1 with Lewandowski scoring late. I did not like the Catalans against Atletico with 10 players. However, the three points combined with Real’s defeat in Mallorca practically gives them half the title.

Atletico have eliminated Barcelona twice at this stage of the Champions League. They also knocked them out of the Spanish Cup this season, although they suffered in the second match in Barcelona. Atletico, as we have written before, have changed in recent years, they are no longer the team of narrow low scoring wins, despite Simeone being on the bench. In their 12 Champions League matches this season there have been 55 goals. Incredible, right?

Everything points to goals here as well, but the line is high (3.5 with odds below 2.00). I found two ways to handle the goals in this match. Both relate to the first half. First thought Over 1.25 Asian goals in the 1st half. Second thought, Barcelona over 1 goal in the 1st half. In both cases I see the goals coming from Barca, so I go with the second.

Perfectly understandable if someone takes the 1.25 of the first half covering both teams, but I finally went with Barca only.
