On paper, this tie should not even be up for debate about who will win. Kyiv are a name known across European competition and has regularly appeared in Champions and Europa League knockout matches. Noah on the other hand is a name better known for the biblical character whose boatbuilding skills saved him and the world from the great flood. However the Armenian side Noah is surprisingly still in the hunt for a place in the last 24 while Kyiv find themselves unable to advance, whether they win or not.

To be fair to Noah, they have used the money they gained from a decent League phase run in the 2024/25 season (including an 8-0 humbling by Chelsea) to really strengthen their squad alongside some of the best Armenian footballing talent. They have proved a stubborn opponent for both Aberdeen and the well-regarded Romanian team, Universitatea Craiova, drawing with both away from home. At home they have beaten Croatian side Rijeka and Legia Warsaw from Poland. They only just lost to Czech side Sigma Olomouc in their other outing. Considering they beat Slovenians, Olimpia in the playoff round home and away as well, I thnk they have been severely underrated by many commentators.

Kyiv managed a 6-0 hammering of the Bosnians Zrinjski Mostar but have lost every other game to leave themselves out of contention for anything other than a share of Europa prize money. With that in mind I think the odds of just under that are being offered on Noah grabbing another “suprise” draw in this competition and making the next stage seems like good value. I even have a sneaking suspicion they might grab a victory to be honest, I can’t see the Kyiv side being too excited about what happens when they face a committed band of Armenians, Portuguese, Cameroonians and Brazilians (?!) turning up with every sinew stretching to gain a result to keep their bonus payments coming from their Armenian paymasters.
