In a direct battle for the play-in, Mike James is expected to take on a bigger offensive role and lead Monaco against Barcelona, making up for his modest performance in his return game.

The EuroLeague is entering the final stretch of the regular season, and this matchup could have a major impact on the standings and the race for the playoffs. The winner will secure at least a play-in spot, while the loser will face an uncertain finish and pressure until the final round.
Monaco, Barcelona, and Crvena Zvezda are currently tied at 20–16, sitting right on the edge of the play-in zone, with Dubai just one win behind, which further raises the stakes of this clash.
This matchup also carries extra weight due to last season’s quarterfinal series, where Monaco prevailed 3–2 after a dramatic Game 5 to reach the Final Four. Back then, Mike James was one of the key factors, performing at a very high level.
However, he is not in that kind of form at the moment, mainly due to a nearly month-long absence caused by a hamstring injury. He returned in the previous round against ASVEL, scoring just 5 points on three shot attempts, but without the need for a heavier workload given Monaco’s control of the game.
In that match, Strazel and Okobo stepped up with a combined 38 points, but against Barcelona, much more will be required from the team’s main star. Another issue is the shortened guard rotation due to the absences of Nedović and Tarpey.
On the positive side, James logged 26 minutes in his return game without issues, suggesting he is physically ready for a larger role. With a similar expected minutes load and a significantly increased offensive responsibility, it is realistic to expect him to take over and be far more efficient, with strong chances of going over his points line.
