Chelsea results are a bit of a nightmare to predict currently. Their form is all ove the place . They are playing well against the big sides, but don’t always look up for it against teams they should be beating easily. How do you compare a 3-0 win over Barcelona with losing to Leeds and drawing with Carrier bag (Qarabag!) in Azerbaijan. It’s not really whether they are home or away, eithe;r they managed to lose to Sunderland and Brighton at the Bridge in recent weeks, whilst beating Spurs and Burnley on the road. This trip to Newcastle is looking like another strange game where anything could happen. The Geordies were looking like they were hitting real form, beating Man City, Everton and Burnley and drawing and beating Spurs in the league and EFL cup respectively. A 2-1 loss in Marseille was the only real blip on the record. That was until Sunday, when they lost the only match the fans will have really cared about in that run of fixtures. A 1-0 loss to local rivals Sunderland in a bad-tempered late-afternoon game on Sunday. They should get past Fulham on Wednesday to make the semi-finals of the EFL Cup and have put some of that bad feeling to rest. As long as they have done that, a packed St James will be ready to forgive and forget against Chelsea. It’s a team they often enjoy playing. This is yet another weekend game that I’m leaning towards being a draw. That’s not me sitting on the fence, it’s just that the EPL has not played to the rules this season. What should happen in this match is goals. Therefore, I’m not even looking to give you a match result and instead aiming for the above 2.75 goals market. I’m backing the combined attacking talents in these two sides to score more than this between them with some ease.
