Oscars 2026 – Best Picture Prediction

Although One Battle after Another is the favorite to win the Oscar for Best Picture, the historic 16 nominations and recent achievements make Sinners a much more serious contender than the odds suggest.
Best Picture
The time for the Oscars ceremony has arrived on Sunday night. A long process that has lasted several months is reaching its grand finale, and it appears that we are heading toward a night full of suspense in many of the major categories.
The most important award is always Best Picture, where One Battle after Another had looked like a clear favorite for a long time. However, the recent success of Sinners cannot be ignored, starting with the award for Best Ensemble at the Screen Actors Guild Awards, as well as the impressive total of 16 Oscar nominations. No film in Oscar history has ever reached such a number, and that fact cannot be overlooked.
In the Best Picture category we have previously seen dominant early favorites such as Oppenheimer, but also late surprises that often occur during the final month before the ceremony, as was the case with Coda.
This year the situation seems to fall somewhere between those two scenarios, and the betting odds appear to underestimate the chances of Sinners. It is indeed an outsider, but much closer to One Battle after Another than bookmakers suggest. The offered price provides value for a film that achieved a historic nominations record and will likely fight closely with the favorite in a race that could be decided by small margins and a handful of votes.
