Panionios’ current season can be described as turbulent, to say the least. Experienced coach Nenad Marković is already the club’s third head coach this season, and he is the one who has managed to lift the team from a very difficult situation. Panionios are still bottom of the Greek league standings, but two consecutive wins have provided a much-needed boost in confidence and some relief in the fight for survival. Nevertheless, a huge amount of work still lies ahead, and their inconsistency was clearly exposed in their most recent EuroCup game, where they were heavily beaten at home by Türk Telekom, 106–61.
On the other hand, PAOK entered the season with high ambitions, underlined by high-profile signings such as Patrick Beverley and Breein Tyree. So far, they have looked very solid across all competitions, and last week they proved they can strongly challenge even the top favorites, pushing Panathinaikos all the way in Thessaloniki.
We can expect an intriguing coaching battle between two old-school coaches who know each other very well. While Panionios have shown clear improvement since the arrival of Nenad Marković, PAOK are currently in much better form and possess a more compact and higher-quality roster. All of this gives the edge to the visitors, who should come away from this demanding away game with a victory.
